AKB48′s “Sayonara Crawl” To Have 4 Centers
AKB48 has announced the member selection for its next CD single, titled “Sayonara Crawl“. In an unprecedented move, the group will be utilizing 4 centers. This is the first time the group has attempted a “quadruple center” lineup.
Itano Tomomi, Mayu Watanabe, Yuko Oshima and “Paruru” Haruka Shimazaki will all take on the role of center as part of this new lineup.
The details were revealed in front of 10,000 excited fans at their Budokan concert which was held over the weekend. The audience cheered as each member’s name was announced, 32 in all.
Members were selected from SKE48, NMB48, HKT48, JKT48 and SNH48, though the bulk came from AKB48. Fans cheered especially hard when it was revealed that Itano Tomomi would be one of the four centers. Itano is one of the founding members of AKB48 (1st generation), and has taken part in over 33 singles. Despite her tenure with the group, this will be Tomomi’s first time as a center.
Multiple versions of the single are scheduled to go on sale May 22nd. The Limited Edition version will come with a handshake event ticket and a special cover jacket.
