Manga Anime Announcement

For those unfamiliar with the Saki anime, it revolves on a character by the same name who eventually joins her high school mahjong club. The club enters a regional mahjong tournament to face tougher opponents and the winners are given an entry to the national tournament. Saki wants to advance because she wishes to see and play her estranged sister, who will be at the national tournament. Her sister also happens to be highest ranked player in the country, and plays on the strongest team in the country. The anime is a standard moe comedy/drama which focuses on Japanese (riichi rules) mahjong. The show and manga saw quite a bit of success after it’s initial release, however, its popularity slowly faded after the creator was hospitalized multiple times due to illness which caused lengthy setbacks and delays.
